Employment

  • Goodwill is a life-changing social enterprise that transforms lives and strengthens families and communities by using proceeds from donations to provide training, career resources and job connections that result in meaningful, sustainable employment for individuals who have struggled with unemployment or under-employment. https://www.goodwillsr.org/columbus-tc

Homelessness

  • Open Door Virginia D. Jackson Home for Women is the oldest transitional housing program for homeless unaccompanied women who are ages 18 years old and up in the area.  This program is offered at no charge to unaccompanied women for up to twelve (12) months.  The women are required to be working, looking for work, attending school, or participating in a day treatment program.  Individual and group counseling are provided for each resident by The Pastoral Institute.  Life skills, bible study, and additional training opportunities are routinely offered. https://www.odch.org/virginia-d-jackson-home-for-women 
  • The Plummer Home for Homeless Veterans is a rite of passage for male veterans transitioning from the Muscogee County jail. All residents must be willing to commit to the program. Referrals come from; families, shelters, law enforcement agencies, community agencies, court systems of potential residents. Resident's intake and clinical assessments will be done by the Director or by a clinical professional. Each prospective resident must complete an application. https://theplummerhome.org/
  • Valley Rescue Mission Women & Children's Shelter is a 17-unit Emergency Shelter is a temporary shelter providing relief from physical trauma. This may be from a fire, eviction, or escape from domestic violence. Relief is provided by meeting the physical, spiritual, and material needs of each client. Women and their children who find themselves homeless as a result of an unexpected catastrophe are welcomed. https://www.valleyrescuemission.org/about-3
  • Valley Rescue Mission Transitional Living Program (TLP) for men experiencing homelessness. The program is designed to transition men from homelessness to permanent housing in a safe, sober, Christian environment. Men admitted into the program have complete access to hot showers, three meals per day, laundry facilities, a computer lab, and so much more. https://www.valleyrescuemission.org/about-3

Personal and Professional Development

  • Open Door empowers impoverished people in our community to reach their full potential as children of God by creating long-term solutions to poverty.  https://www.odch.org/
  • Victory Mission weekly programming includes Sunday School for children and worship for adults, Tuesday evening Bible Study for all age groups and life skills exercises for children and youth, Wednesday tutoring,  and various special activities are held year round. Schools

  • Muscogee County seeks operational partnerships with community agencies that provide direct services to our students and parents in the McKinney-Vento program. The goal is to increase awareness of McKinney-Vento by expanding partnerships with local agencies who will provide immediate wrap around services to our McKinney-Vento students and families.
